Demo import issues
NextSky themes come with beautiful, pre-designed demos to help you launch your store in minutes. However, during the import process, you might occasionally run into errors like missing images, layout errors, or incomplete data sync.
This guide addresses the most common causes of demo import issues and provides quick solutions to fix them.
1. The Demo File Format is Invalid (.zip error)
When you purchase a theme, you usually download a master package. Uploading the entire package directly to Shopify will cause an error.
- The Problem: You receive an error saying "Content-type is not supported" or "Missing template files".

2. Missing Images or Placeholders
After importing a demo, you notice that the layout matches the demo, but the images are missing, showing blank spaces or generic grey placeholders instead.
- Why this happens: Due to copyright and licensing restrictions, copyrighted brand images from our live previews cannot always be distributed within the theme package.

3. Navigation Menus and Collections are Missing
Your header navigation looks empty, or product sections say "No products found", even though the demo layout successfully loaded.
- Why this happens: Theme files control the design layout, but they cannot automatically create database assets like Collections, Products, or Navigation menus inside your personal Shopify admin.

4. Theme Upload Timeout (Slow Connection)
Sometimes, uploading a large demo file stalls midway or throws a connection error.
- Why this happens: A slow internet connection or temporary Shopify server lag can cause the upload process to time out.

5. App-Dependent Sections Are Broken
Some advanced demo features (like product reviews, advanced search filters, or wishlists) require free external apps to fully function. If those apps are missing, that specific section in the demo might look broken or empty.
