Publish a Theme
Publishing a Shopify theme makes it live on your storefront. Once published, customers will see the new theme design on your website.
You can only publish one theme at a time.
How to publish a Shopify theme
Step 1: Open the Themes page
In your Shopify admin, go to:
Online Store → Themes
Step 2: Find your theme
Scroll down to the:
Theme library
section.
Locate the theme you want to publish.
Step 3: Publish the theme
Click:
Actions → Publish
Then click Publish again to confirm.
Your selected theme will now become the live storefront theme.
What happens after publishing?
- The new theme becomes live immediately
- Your previous theme moves back to the Theme Library
- Your products, collections, and store data remain unchanged
Important notes
Only one live theme is allowed
Shopify allows multiple installed themes, but only one can be published at a time.
